The HELIOS consortium is pleased to announce that the ASME paper by PhD student Rafael Pichler has been accepted for presentation at the ASME Turbo Expo 2026 (GT2026) in Milan, Italy.
The work of Rafael investigates flame flashback in lean premixed hydrogen-air mixtures. It experimentally studies flashback in a trapped-vortex burner using hydrogen-air, hydrogen-natural-gas-air and natural-gas-air mixtures, and compares the observed behaviour with various flashback prediction models.
The conference organized by ASME (The American Society of Mechanical Engineers) will take place from June 15–19, 2026 and brings together leading researchers and industry experts in turbomachinery and energy systems, see also link https://event.asme.org/Turbo-Expo
We would like to congratulate Rafael and the TU Delft | Mechanical Engineering team with Mark Tummers and Sikke Klein on this achievement and their contribution to this research. They look forward to presenting the work and engaging with the international community in Milan.
